About Designer

Greg Schob is custom knife maker and is currently serving in the US Coast Guard on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. A metal fabricator by trade, he began making knives about 5 years ago. He enjoys making knives, leather, and anything EDC related. His goal is to become a full time maker when he retires from the Coast Guard in 2023 bringing unique and functional designs to the community.

About Design

The Baba Yaga folding knife draws inspiration from the terrifying witch of Slavic folklore, embodying both mystery and power. Much like the mythical Baba Yaga herself, this knife may appear unassuming, but it carries a lethal edge. Its razor-sharp blade is perfect for precision tasks while its size and ergonomics make it surprisingly versatile.
More than just an everyday carry (EDC) tool, the Baba Yaga knife is a work of art. Inspired by myth, it captures the cold, mysterious aesthetic of its namesake while delivering top-tier functionality, making it a reliable companion for any adventure.

FEATURES

*Premium Modified Wharncliffe Blade with Hollow Grind 
-The blade is crafted from CPM 20CV or Damascus steel, featuring a modified Wharncliffe blade shape with a hollow grind. This design provides a thin, sharp edge that excels at slicing and detailed work, while also offering excellent durability and edge retention.  
*Aesthetics Dual-Material Handle Construction
-The handle features a dual-material construction, seamlessly combining titanium with carbon fiber or Timascus inlays. This combination of materials enhances both the aesthetics and the tactile experience of the knife, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to its design.
* Ergonomic Precision
-The knife offers an ergonomic grip, featuring a curved handle with chamfered edges and a titanium backspacer, ensuring a smooth, comfortable hold without any sharp edges. The handle’s flowing lines fit naturally in the palm, providing a snug and secure grip. A thumb ramp on the spine allows for a stable, controlled hold, enhancing precision during use.
* Smooth Opening Action
-Baba Yaga rides on caged ceramic ball bearings, ensuring exceptionally smooth opening and closing action. With the thumb stud, the blade deploys effortlessly, providing a quick and seamless operation every time.

SPECIFICATIONS

The Damascus steel we use is a premium composite of 9Cr and 440C stainless steels, distinguishing it from lower-quality options. This is genuine, layered stainless Damascus—not simply etched or patterned imitations seen in cheaper knives. Unlike traditional high-carbon Damascus, which is prone to rust, this stainless Damascus combines exceptional durability with corrosion resistance, making it ideal for lasting use. Comparable to high-end stainless Damascus like Damasteel, our steel surpasses carbon-based Damascus commonly used in brands like Kershaw in both quality and performance.
